The Triumph Sports Owners Association of WA got off to a red hot start to the 2025 competition season with a 55 entrant field at Midvale.
The course was a ‘double loop’ configuration of around 2klm in length. All entrants had 4 runs on the day with only a single ‘mishap’ when a Triumph MK1 sedan had a close encounter with a substantial gumtree on the back straight. Thankfully the driver was unhurt apart from a severe dent in his self-esteem.
In collaboration with the HSV Owners of WA, the event hosted a wide variety of classics and modern competition club cars. Using the internal roads within this facility, the course was designed to even out the competition so the high powered muscle cars were at no particular advantage. Course times were in the 90 second region and the field of competitors enjoyed over 6 hours of autocross action. The utterly outstanding competition team and volunteers were again exemplary out in the blistering heat all day. Having so many entrants approach our officials to offer their sincere thanks made their efforts highly valued.
Congratulations to all class winners and fellow competitors on a fantastic, respectful and enjoyment filled event. Quickest on the day, calculated off an aggregate of all runs, were:
- Brent Mathews in his potent Westfield 239.9 seconds – TSOA open class
- David Moir Triumph TR7V8 255.8 seconds – TSOA V8 class
- Russell Benn Triumph Herald 6 269.4 seconds – TSOA 6 cylinder class
- Bruce Pollock Triumph TR4A 286.1 seconds – TSOA 4 cylinder class
These short course events have become extremely popular, the max entrant threshold was achieved in record time showing the strong demand for this form of Motorsport in the west. To complement the event, three professional photographers were on duty to capture the action. To view the highlights, go to the TSOA of WA web site www.tsoa-wa.com
