Damon Sterling is the next name etched into the history books alongside the star studded list of Australian motorsport champions who adorn the Australian Drivers Championships history.
The Australian Drivers Championship name has represented Australia’s premiere open wheeler racing category since the 1950’s and as we look back on the first year of the championship under AASA sanctioning we are proud to have presented a competitive national open-wheeler category featuring identical spec series cars, multiple race/round winners and a title fight that survived all the way through to the final round of the year. Once the low cost per round and season tyre set limitations are considered, we can confidently say the Hyper Racer ADC is a fair, successful and, most importantly, affordable platform for open-wheeler slicks and wings racing in Australia!
Highlights of this year’s Australian Driver’s Championship include grids of up to 17 cars, race wins split by mere tenths of a second, memorable drives from Dunlop Super 2 and Bathurst Wildcard drivers and Hyper Racer’s first visits to the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park and One Raceway were the category and it’s champion, Damon Sterling, now hold the outright lap record.
The AASA and Hyper Racer are excited to be working together to grow the category considerably in 2025, with more televised national events visiting more circuits around the country with 20+ cars on the grid. With teams now offering lease drives for 2025, we are encouraging Australia’s next generation of drivers currently lighting up karting tracks around the country to look to the Hyper Racer Australian Drivers Championship as the next step in their open-wheeler racing careers.
The 2025 calendar is set to be released in the coming weeks.
