INFORMATION TO EVENT PROMOTERS to COMPLY with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) COMMUNITY RISK MINIMISATION and GOVERNMENT DIRECTIVES and LEGISLATION.
The AASA is committed to assisting the motorsport community to conduct their sport within the restraints of complying with Government Legislation and directives, community expectations and best practice guidelines to minimise potential harm from the Covid-19 pandemic. Our duty and aim in resuming motorsport activity are to minimise the risk of community transmission of the virus by maintaining the standards that the community has become accustomed to, but within a motorsport environment.
The AASA has a number of requirements in order to plan and conduct motorsport events which we sanction.
- Promoters Should contact the AASA with their permit applications as soon as possible even if there is no firm date to be able to be set for the event at the time of application. AASA can provide preliminary advice as to what may be needed for the conduct of an event depending on restrictions in place at the proposed event time.
- Promoters are to design a guidance plan, with consultation with the venue management (where applicable) to provide information on how the event can comply with social and physical distancing and that takes account of the potential number of people attending, no matter what their role.
- Promoters must maintain a register (name, phone number, reason for attendance) for EVERYBODY who enters the venue for an event. Venue management may have such a tool readily available.
- AASA encourages everyone to download the Covidsafe App.

- Hand Sanitiser Stations to be located throughout the event.
- Specific Covid-19 area to be created in the Medical Facility.
- Event Safety Officers will be expected to complete a Covid-19 Checklist that will be distributed with event permit documentation.
- Those activities that require a passenger are permitted to be conducted.
- Maintain social distancing (at least 1.5 meters away from others)
- No hand shaking or unnecessary contact between parties.
- Constant use of hand sanitiser or frequent hand washing.
- No sharing any equipment, helmets, drink bottles, towels, gloves, food, drinks etc.
- Anyone who has come into contact with someone who is sick or has flu-like symptoms are not to attend any event.
- Consider how the provision of portable toilets, temporary showers and other amenities provided for the comfort of participants and patrons can be managed for both frequent sanitization and physical distancing.
- Anyone who is in a 14-day self-isolation period are not to attend any event.
- Avoid forming queues or groups of people. If necessary please provide markings on the ground for appropriate spacing.
- Encourage everyone to limit contact with other people at the event where possible.
- Drivers briefings should be held in the open air as a preference and with people standing well apart (not in small or dedicated briefing rooms), and only if necessary, and briefing notes should be used as a minimum.
- Check with the venue provider to see how many people will be at the venue on the day of your event to ensure you do not breach any government regulation.
- Organisers should “space out” parking and pit arrangements, where possible.
- Promoters can and should enquire the circumstances of persons known to have been overseas recently. We now have compulsory self- isolating periods, which intending participants must adhere to.
- Anyone who becomes unwell during an event, with cold or flu-like symptoms, must report to the on-site medical service in the first instance. The Event Safety Officer should be notified as to circumstances, and have the power to shut the event down, if deemed necessary.
- Should you observe anyone in attendance at the event that raises cause for concerns for their health this must be reported to the event Safety Officer.
- Provide advice to your participants to NOT attend any motor sport event if unwell, or if there has been a risk of exposure to someone they know, who has identified as having been overseas in the past 14 days. (Compulsory self- isolation for such individuals will assist this issue, into the future).
In all circumstances, follow guidelines/decrees as issued by relevant State Health Authorities or the Federal Government.

The AASA and promoters expect that responsible competitors and participants understand their obligations to society in complying with all government advice and legislated requirements, in order assist to prevent the spread amongst the general community of the Covid-19 virus.
