The Hyper Racer Australian Drivers Championship is expected to make a dramatic show of growth sporting over 20 cars on the grid for round one as it enters its second year under the ADC title.
One of the many drivers looking to experience the brand new Australian open-wheeler over the new years break was young international racer, Jack Clifford. Following a run of podiums in Formula Ford here at home, Jack made the move to the UK at just 17 years old to campaign the British GB4 Championship with exciting plans for an even more ambitious year in 2025 as he attempts to climb the ladder to a career as a professional driver.
Luckily enough, being home for the holidays provided the perfect opportunity to jump behind the wheel of the latest and greatest open wheeler that home has to offer, the Hyper Racer X1, for a fascinating comparison to the GB4 and GB3 cars he is familiar with. The final December Test & Tune for the year at Winton
Raceway was the test bed for several new X1 owners and lease drivers getting behind the wheel for the first time in preparation for the 2025 season. Clifford would take to the track in one of the multiple lease cars provided by Hyper Racer’s Customer Racing partner, Summons Racing.
“It was the braking that got me most by surprise”, Clifford explained after his first session, “You’re feathering the brake pedal and just about come to a stop”. Jack goes on to explain that the low weight of the car, “395kg plus the driver”, makes it stand out from the cars he is used to overseas. “I’m really blown away”, he added.
The Australian Drivers’ Championship will kick off with the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series for Round 1 at Winton Raceway on the 28th February – 2nd March. Early Bird Spectator tickets available.
