Motor Events Racing – Boneyard GP

MER Boneyard GP (9)
The Boneyard GP is a 16 hour endurance event run over two days at DriveIt just outside of Townsville, QLD. For those unfamiliar with the circuit, the small 12 corner, 2.7km long track is surrounded by the most amazing mountains and provides some great scenery unlike any race track in Australia. This year’s event also marks an extremely significant milestone for Motor Events Racing, overall, MER Teams have donated $205,000 that has gone directly to Rare Cancers Australia. This is an incredible achievement and the AASA is incredibly proud to work with a racing organisation making such a positive impact on the world around us. Well done Ben and to everyone who has been a part of the Motor Events Racing journey thus far on this amazing achievement. This great race has been named the Boneyard GP due to the track’s location in the suburb of Calcium which provides a great theme for the teams to get into. The thematic element of Motor Events Racing events is all part of what makes them a unique and enjoyable experience and the Boneyard GP absolutely embodies that philosophy. This year 24 cars entered the event with a large field of ME3 cars. Team Sexellence in their Hyundia excel would ultimately take victory after they “Bought the win” with a very generous donation to Rare Cancers Australia. This is ofcourse the most socially acceptable way to bribe your way to the top step of the podium. Despite blowing up a clutch, Team Getz pulled out a mammoth effort to get it replaced and back up and running again. The team then very generously donated some tyres to Karts to Cars, a team of young kids coming up from go-karting, so they could finish the race. What a great act of kindness in the spirit of the event. In true Motor Events Racing fashion, there were many crazy penalties dished out for driver standards: Hula hoops, Car net Badminton and lots of apology notes written on windows to the clerk of course… The remaining award winners for all categories included: Me-1 Bracket
