Round 4 of the TORC Off Road Racing Championship ran at the Apsley and District Motorsport Club on the 22nd and 23rd of June, 2024. Travelling away from TORC’s home circuit in Kyneton gave the competitors a new challenge and a great opportunity to bring the two off road racing communities together.
The schedule saw alternating track time between the TORC motorcycle engined buggies and the sedans of the Apsley Dirt Circuit Club.
Apsley President Fred Carberry explained that the track had a lot of moisture in it this weekend making for a tacky track. The grip levels were evidently high as the buggies picked up wheels all round the track.
Sunday saw the competition heat up as the Apsley Sedans and TORC Buggies ran alternating 10 lap heats on the 370 metre track. The track was fast having been freshly grated that morning which made for exciting racing in the light weight, high powered buggies and some incredible photos of the cars 3 wheeling around the technical Apsley circuit.
As it is with our home track each time you go out there conditions are a little different with lots of rubber getting put down, tyres howling and sometimes smoking!
A special thanks to Fred Carberry and the Apsley and District Motorsports Club for hosting the away round of the TORC Off Road Racing Championship. The display of inter-community passion and enjoyment of the sport really stood out as a highlight of the weekend.
