For the first time in 15 years the Australian Super Trucks return to South Australia and the Mallala Motorsport Park this weekend.

Yes, this ANZAC Day long weekend, the trucks will be back for Round 1 of their 2025 season, along with a huge variety of other categories from miniature cars to drifting and even some speedway machines.

It is certainly going to be an incredibly entertaining weekend, Adam Brook, the Motorsport & Operations Manager of the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park can’t wait to get the weekend underway.

“The spectacle of Super Truck Racing is back at Mallala Motorsport Park – and we couldn’t be more excited,” he said.

“South Australia’s traditional home of Motorsport is set to roar back to life as these 1,000+ horsepower machines battle it out in a display of raw power, precision driving, and crowd-thrilling action.

“There’s plenty more to see and do, with the A1 Linemarking Drift Battle, Adelaide Burnouts and a host of race events.”

Across the long weekend, the trucks will have a qualifying session, shootout and half a dozen races, including a couple of reverse grid affairs.

If you have not seen truck racing before, it is a spectacle, they are incredibly fast and surprisingly nimble. Contact is inevitable due to the size of the trucks and the close combat racing; it is something you won’t want to miss.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, The Miniature Race Cars are little pocket rockets, way smaller than a normal sized car.

The racing in this category is always superb, they will often run alongside each other, four or even five cars wide and have scintillating slipstreaming duals lap after lap.

This weekend Mallala will play host to the inaugural Street Stock Road Course National Championship.

These Street Stock machines usually compete on the dirt ovals of speedway, but will be switching to tarmac and taking corners that go both left and right. It is certainly something unique and will be a spectacle with a solid entry list of competitors entered.

The South Australian Formula Vee Championship will also be in attendance, Round 1 of their championship at Mallala was a cracker, expect the same this weekend.

Formula Vee is an entry level open-wheel category that has been around for over 60 years, notably giving drivers like Larry Perkins a start in motorsport.

Motor Events runs light-hearted and fun events, most notably the Melonade 25 Hour. When we say grass roots motor racing this is the definition. Motor Events is a South Aussie group, they will be running several demonstrations and events across the weekend.

Of course, we can’t forget the A1 Linemarking Drift competition across the weekend. The states best drifters will be producing plumes of smoke as they slide around the Mallala circuit.

There is plenty to see and do off-track also including live music and kids’ lawn games.

You certainly won’t go hungry with a huge amount of food and drink vendors.
