Western Australia Pro Modifieds held the 7th annual King of Kellerberrin this month at Kellerberrin Speedway with great nomination numbers across all divisions marking a great end to the 2023/24 WAPM season.
Pro Mods put on some close racing all day from both the A mods and B mods classes. Defending champion Matt Bosveld hoped to claim a back to back, but WA1 Brad Ludlow managed to take the win to be crowned King for 2024. Bosveld suffered car issues but was able to put on a good show regardless in the fight for the throne. Damien Birch took 3rd place overall. Brad Wright received both the hard charger and Top B Mod award for the day displaying some fantastic racing while Dave Southwell and Rod Smith were welcomed as new members to the club trying out Pro Mods for the first time.
The State Titles were run over 3 rounds. The first at Morawa Speedway won by Brad Ludlow for A mods and Rick Bell for B mods. Round 2 was run at Kellerberrin Speedway, welcoming Graham Mitchell to the club as a new driver. The B Mods had some great racing with Rick Bell and Craig Watkins were hungry for the win, but Craig managed to take the top spot while previously mentioned Matt Bosveld won the A mods. Round 3 was held at the 3rd Annual Bunbury Winter Nationals with over 80 nominations across all divisions. A successful event with huge community engagement as club rooms overflowed during the event.
It was anyone’s game for the state title with extremely competitive racing between all pro mod drivers. Brad Ludlow would take the win followed by Matt Bosveld in 2nd place and Rick Bell rounding out the podium . Rod Smith, Dave Southwell and Aaron Comben were all close contenders, unfortunately both Craig Watkins and Ben Ludlow would suffer DNS with mechanical problems.
The overall WAPM championship would be taken again by Brad Ludlow claiming back to back WA1 titles while B mods would be won by first time State Title winner Rick Bell.
WAPM now take some time off with the Trophy presentation night in August showcasing at the Celebration of Motorsport on Sunday the 15th of September. The 2024/25 season kicks off at Kellerberrin Speedway Saturday 7th September.
