QLD Rally Vehicle Registration Scheme

AASA is pleased to announce that the Queensland Rally Vehicle Registration Scheme is a streamlined process designed to facilitate the registration of rally vehicles for residents of Queensland. This scheme allows Queensland-registered vehicles to drive nationally without the need for re-registration.

The initial stage is each vehicle needs to have a AASA Vehicle Passport, then downloading and completing the “Application for an Authority to Operate” form from the AASA website, filling out the owner and vehicle details, and booking an inspection with an approved AASA inspector. This inspection ensures the vehicle meets all necessary requirements for rally competition.

The second stage requires obtaining AASA approval. Applicants must gather supporting documents, including vehicle images, competition history, and evidence of vehicle origin. These documents, along with the completed application form, must be emailed to [email protected]. Upon receiving the approved Authority to Operate from AASA, applicants can proceed to the final stage.

In the registration stage, the approved Authority to Operate must be printed and taken to the nearest TMR Centre to complete the vehicle registration. Once registered, rally vehicles can be operated on roads under specific conditions, such as road testing within a 15-kilometre radius, traveling for repairs, and participating in or preparing for rally competitions. Operators must exercise extreme caution, carry relevant documents, and comply with all regulations to ensure safe and legal use of their rally vehicles.
